Nature or treasure hunt\r\n\r\nMy daughter absolutely loved this and to be truthful, so did I. Draw a map of your home and garden in particular, hiding certain objects around garden (being mindful of safety of course). It will keep them busy for a while, unless they're awesome detectives in which a future career beckons and that lost treasure maybe found haha. It also helps you the adult get those creative juices flowing. This handy hint sheet (which you can download and print here) features plants and creepy-crawlies to look out for should you want the kids to engage in the nature side of exploring more, and there are loads of other worksheets for young explorers who are eager to learn even more.\r\n

        2. Turn a room into a campsite\r\nIf it’s too cold to be outdoors, transforming a room into a campsite and bringing the outdoors in is a great idea. Take some dining-table chairs and throw a blanket over, the dining room table itself could be used (but play safe).\r\n\r\n3. Sir David Attenborough….indulge in some first class education for all\r\n\r\nOne of my favourite people in the world! Sir David released his BBC Education geography lessons last year, which are available on BBC iPlayer and the Red Button. Exploring topics such as oceans and animals, the legendary documentary-maker makes learning fun for all ages. As a fun challenge, draw the animals seen on the series.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n4. Pebble art\r\n\r\nAnother brilliant activity myself, wife and daughter have enjoyed. Taking pebbles and rocks from our garden, washing and cleaning them down then painting various patterns on them. An idea we seen on our local community group, was other families were doing this same thing and when on their own walks, leaving these lovely colourful creations around parks and walking areas for others to enjoy. Get a ‘pebble selfie’ going asking everyone to take a photo and post it in the groups…your kids I’m sure will absolutely love this.\r\n\r\n5. Mud kitchens (comes with an obvious warning)\r\n\r\nNot top of our list as parents we want our daughter to engage in, but when all previous four activities are exhausted, why not. On your essential shopping trip, make sure you load up on cleaning products because with the weather as damp as it can be, you’re sure in for your own time-killing activity after bedtime. But this is a great idea to encourage endless play and communication…hey, why not get them cleaning after…another great life lesson. To get ideas and plans of how to build one, there are many video and instructions on YouTube.\r\n\r\nFor more ideas visit: https:\/\/www.woodlandtrust.org.uk\/blog\/2021\/01\/lockdown-activities-kids-winter\/\r\n\r\nStay safe and take care.”,
